What?
A catalytic converter is a device used to reduce the toxicity of
emissions from an internal combustion engine.
Catalytic converters are still most commonly used in motor vehicle
exhaust systems. They are also used on generator sets, forklifts, mining equipment,
trucks, buses, trains, and other engine-equipped machines. A catalytic converter
provides an environment for a chemical reaction wherein toxic combustion
by-products are converted to less-toxic substances.
Most modern cars are equipped with three-way catalytic converters.
"Three-way" refers to the three regulated emissions it helps to
reduce Carbon Monoxide, VOCs and NOx molecules.
Why Recycle?
By recycling your catalytic converters, you are doing your part to save the planet.
Catalytic converters use a variety of precious metals including platinum, palladium
and rhodium a significant portion of which are mined in areas with a lack of
environmental protection legislation, causing significant negative environmental effects.
